How to Position Your Coaching Brand for Premium Clients

brand messaging positioning Oct 29, 2025

If you’re tired of competing on price, the problem isn’t your service... it’s your positioning.

Positioning determines who sees you, what they believe about your value, and how much they’re willing to invest. The right positioning turns a $150/hour coach into a $5,000/month partner.

I want to share how I help coaches to craft a brand that commands premium fees... without feeling pushy or inauthentic.

1. Start With the Right Audience

Premium positioning starts by knowing exactly who you help and why they care.

If your audience is “anyone who wants to grow,” you’re selling to no one.

Instead, get specific:

  • Executive Coaches: Target senior leaders navigating change, influence, or culture.
  • Life Coaches: Focus on mid-career professionals at a crossroads.
  • Career Coaches: Speak to high-achieving professionals aiming for promotion or pivot.
  • Business Coaches: Focus on founders who want to scale sustainably.

🎯 Tip: Define the one pain point your audience would pay top dollar to solve.

2. Define the Transformation (Not the Tactics)

You’re not selling coaching sessions... you’re selling a before-and-after story ("the NOW to WOW factor").

Premium clients pay for transformation:

  • Before: “I feel stuck, overwhelmed, unseen.”
  • After: “I lead with clarity, confidence, and results.”

When you make that shift in your messaging, you immediately move upmarket.

3. Elevate Your Proof

Premium positioning needs premium proof:

  • Showcase case studies or testimonials framed around outcomes.
  • Highlight metrics or tangible impact (“promoted within 90 days,” “2X business growth”).
  • Add social proof logos or affiliations (ICF, Forbes Coaches Council, etc.)

4. Craft a Signature Message

Create one repeatable phrase that sums up what you do and for whom... your brand promise.

Examples:

  • “I help leaders communicate with confidence (even under pressure.)”
  • “I help business coaches build sustainable six-figure systems.”

Your brand message should be clear enough for others to repeat when referring you.

5. Align Your Brand Touchpoints

Every interaction should reinforce your positioning... from your website copy and photo style to your LinkedIn headline and lead magnet titles.

Consistency builds credibility. Credibility builds pricing power.

Premium positioning isn’t about charging more. It’s about creating alignment between your value and your market’s perception.

When that clicks, selling feels natural, and scaling feels possible.
